PROGRAM

Long before and ever since Anna Sewell’s classic, Black Beauty, kids have dreamed about horses. Dreamed about the secret connection between these noble creatures and their riders and handlers – a connection that kids instinctively seem to know and see. However today’s kids also inhabit a world of competing pressures.

The Kids & Horses Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to igniting that secret connection in the children of our community – particularly those who might never have the opportunity of mingling with horses and horse professionals. Why? Horse and human emotions interact, and like other therapeutic animals, horses are good teachers.

The Kids & Horses initiative knows that learning good horsemanship provides long term benefits for children. These include discipline, problem solving and life-coping skills, respect for themselves and others, leadership skills and teamwork, stress management, strength and coordination, patience and responsibility.

At the end of the day, our goal is twofold:
a) help motivated kids flourish and grow through being
involved with horses
b) provide opportunity for those kids interested in a career
involving horses.

We achieve this in a variety of ways, including – weekly riding lessons, riding camps and the Kids & Horses Scholarship created to help cover the costs of college-level equine studies.
